Sensory-Friendly Performance of "Alice, an adventure of wonder and wondering"

Keshet strives to make dance performance at Keshet Center for the Arts accessible to all. With this goal, performances have altered technical elements, smaller audience sizes, and break-out spaces for individuals to get up and move around throughout the performance, providing a welcoming setting for families.

Sensory adjustments include: - House lights remain at half brightness during the entire performance. - Fewer tickets are sold to allow you to spread out in seating. - Entry and Exit to the theater is not restricted. You may come and go as you please. - Volunteers are stationed throughout the audience, lobby and outside the Keshet Center for the Arts to assist audience members. - Quiet areas are designated in the lobby. - Keshet dancers, staff, ushers and volunteers are receiving training to ensure an exemplary experience for you and your family.

Sensory-Friendly Hours, Resources & Summer Camp

Explora is a new kind of learning place, providing real experiences with real things that put people’s learning in their own hands. Explora is part science center, part children’s museum, part free-choice school, part grandma’s attic, part grandpa’s garage, part laboratory, part neighborhood full of interesting people, and part of many people’s lives.

Explora is offering sensory friendly hours on Sunday mornings and Friday evenings, which includes an easier entrance experience, quiet spaces and museum toolkits that were developed in conjunction with the New Mexico Autism Society. During these sensory-friendly hours, individuals and families can enjoy a less sensory-stimulating visit.

  • Sensory-Friendly Entrance: an entrance that bypasses the store and admissions desk.

  • Sensory Spaces: quiet, low-light rooms upstairs and downstairs available to take a break from the exhibit floor.

  • Museum Toolkits: resources co-developed with NM Autism Society, like social stories, fidgets, visual schedules, and more.

Before your visit, you can view, download, and print a PDF of the Sensory Map of Explora, the Social Story, and/or the Visual Schedule. There are Summer Camps for children with autism, their siblings and friends.
