A Free Place to Play for All Special Needs Families
We have converted our 3,000 sq ft barn into an indoor play area for kids with special needs. having 3 kids with autism and one with down syndrome this place is a dream for these families. Fully enclosed barn on 5 acres that are completely fenced. we have a wheel chair accessible play structure, bounce house, trampoline, toddler town, play shed, goats and mini horses to feed, a tree house, zip line and a field full of different sensory swings!

Free Sensory Friendly Holiday Show
For the second time ever Allegro will be offering a sensory friendly performance of our holiday showcase and it will be free and open to the public to attend. Our Sensory-friendly performance is designed to create a welcoming and comfortable arts experience for people with autism, sensory sensitivities, or other social, learning or cognitive disabilities. Modifications include lower sound level, especially for startling or loud sounds.
Saturday December 16th at 1:30pm will be our only sensory friendly show this season, so be sure to reserve your tickets as soon as they are available. Our sensory friendly show is free to the public, but you will have to reserve tickets to make sure we can accommodate interest. Reserve your tickets now!!

Puget Sound Estuarium
Sensory Hour with the Estuarium
The Puget Sound Estuarium in Olympia is now offering a monthly Sensory Hour before opening to the public. While exploring the Estuarium’s exhibits, live animals and preserved specimens, Sensory Hour visitors can access sea-themed sensory toys, calming atmospheric videos, and noise-canceling headphones in an affirming environment.
Occurs every second Saturday of the month from 10-11am. Because tickets for this event include admission for our public open hours, registered participants are welcome to come and go from the Estuarium from 10 AM until 4 PM.

Azure Family Concert
Join Seattle Chamber Music Society for a FREE, fun, and engaging concert for children and young adults on the autism spectrum or with similar challenges, and their families or care-givers. As many with autism cannot attend traditional music performances due to stimming, vocalizations or physical movements, Azure concerts offer a welcoming, nonjudgmental space for families to gather and enjoy music together. This event is ‘Shush-Proof’! Look forward to an instrument petting zoo after the performance! On stage will be a star-studded roster of talent featuring cellist Ed Arron, pianist Orion Weiss and violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti.
Fidget toys, boas and scarves, coloring pages, space for dancing, a limited number of noise cancelling headphones, and a quiet room to take a break will be available. All Behaviors Welcome!

Sensory-Relaxed Matinee
Pork Filled Productions is pleased to announce that the August 21st performance of She Devil of the China Seas at 2 pm in association with and at the Theatre Off Jackson (409 7th Ave. S., Seattle, WA) will be its very first sensory relaxed performance.
A sensory-friendly, relaxed performance enables children and people with sensory sensitivities as a part of autism and/or sensory-processing disorders to experience theatre with relaxed theater rules, such as the house lights staying on, theater doors remaining open, and a designated “quiet zone,” and more, to allow for increased comfort.
"Pork-Filled Productions is always striving to increase equity and access to theatre for all people,” says Roger Tang, PFP Executive Director and playwright for She Devil. “Because of the nature of the story (it’s pirates!), She Devil is an intense show with sword fighting, suspense and intrigue, with a large cast playing multiple roles. “While the swashbuckling and piracy will still be present, we hope that offering a performance with the house lights on at a low level, changes to some sound and lightning effects to decrease intensity, and an audience content guide will increase access for some patrons who otherwise might not be able to come."
What Does a Sensory-Relaxed Performance Entail?
Sensory elements, such as music volume, sound and lighting effects, are modulated, and the use of tablets/smartphones, fidgets, and movement in the audience are welcome.
A “social narrative” is available prior to the show so that audience members can familiarize themselves with the elements of the performance, know what to expect, and increase their comfort level with a new situation.

Sensory-Friendly Performance
Sensory-friendly performances welcome audiences to engage in an accessible and relaxing theater-going experience. This theatergoing experience is made to cater to people with sensory sensitivities. The autism and neurodivergent communities especially benefit from these performances, where adjustments are made to make your audience experience comfortable.
Some adjustments that you can expect to create an accepting and welcoming environment for all include:
Trained ushers, volunteers, and front-of-house staff.
A large quiet area in the lobby.
Fidget items available for all audience members.
Sensory kits available for check out, including noise-reduction headphones.
House lights slightly raised.
Loud noises, strobe lights, and other over-stimulating effects reduced or eliminated.
Assistive devices allowed throughout the performance, including tablets and phones.
Space to move, talk, make noise, leave your seats, and re-enter the theater throughout the performance.

Sensory Day
Sensory Day is for families of children, teenagers and young adults with disabilities including intellectual disabilities, autism, sensory processing disorders and other cognitive disabilities.
Families will get access to the Museum, where they can explore and self-guide through the galleries with adjusted light and sound for the best possible experience. Sensory Day is intended as a positive and meaningful experience for families visiting The Museum of Flight. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 5:30pm - 7:30pm FREE Admission; pre-registration required. Museum Store will be open during Sensory Days and participant will receive 15% discount. Wings Café, Aviation Pavilion and Charles Simonyi Space Gallery will be open.

Sensory Friendly Concerts
From the Symphony: "Sensory Friendly Concerts, a program designed specifically for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other sensory sensitivities, invites families with children ages 5–8 to enjoy small chamber works and participatory group songs in the Founders Room at Benaroya Hall.
The concert experience includes instrument exploration before and after the show, a meet-and-greet with the featured musicians, and a 35-minute performance hosted by a board-certified music therapist. This year we will highlight a different social skill at each concert, and offer opportunities for families to connect with one another within and outside of the concert setting."

From the website: Dear Friend,have you passed up family theater because your child has different sensory needs? No more! StoryBook Theater, in partnership with Safeco Insurance Fund, is working to make theater accessible for children with developmental challenges and special needs. Local community members with experience in these areas are working with us to make StoryBook Theater a safe and welcoming place for children with sensory differences and other disabilities.
In order to adapt our musicals to be sensory-friendly, we plan to leave the house lights up a few levels higher than for a standard production, reduce the sound level, as well as offer a “quiet space” for children who may need a break from what may be overwhelming sensory input for them. Friendly, supportive staff and community volunteers will minimize stress and offer whatever help you may need to facilitate your theater experience.

Sensory Friendly Screenings
A pillar of SMG’s Outreach since 2003, our monthly Special Needs Screenings are designed for families raising children with special needs. Special Needs Screenings are shown with the lights up and the volume lowered and children are free to move around, talk, or even dance in the aisles during the movie.
The sensory friendly screenings are free for children with special needs and their siblings. Adult tickets are available at before-noon price. There are no advance ticket sales. Parental guidance is always suggested.
Special Needs Screenings are shown at 11:00am at all SMG locations except EpiCentre. SMG Downey, Monrovia and Redlands look forward to offering our special needs screening program in the near future. We are currently in process of installing new seating and will subsequently undergo remodeling to our full concept. These locations will offer special needs screenings as soon as this work has been completed.

Wings for Autism®/Wings for All® are airport “rehearsals” specially designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The programs are designed to alleviate the stress that families who have a child with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities experience when flying. It provides families the opportunity to practice entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, going through security and boarding a plane.
